Vision and Mission: Developing a Successful Publishing Strategy
How do you expand and diversify your company? What is the best strategy to identify a niche in the marketplace, target your audience, evaluate the competition, and build a title list that accomplishes your goals? In this seminar taught by Philip Patrick, a publisher at Random House, the world’s largest trade publishing company, owned by Bertelsmann AG, students will examine case studies of successful list building, acquiring writers and assessing talent. The professor will provide an overview of the profit and loss statement and guide students through the process of establishing effective business models, including how to make the most with as little as possible to drive profitable growth. Drawing upon his experiences publishing Barack Obama, Martha Stewart, Deepak Chopra and hundreds of other authors, the professor will also discuss creating a successful supply chain and bringing your list to market.
