Within the projects of the Zayed Giving Initiative, KITAB – in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Emirates Transport – is proud to introduce the KITAB Bus: National Mobile Library. The bus is dedicated to enhancing literacy levels and promoting the enjoyment of reading across all age groups in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain and the Western Region. The refitted bus houses an impressive selection of fiction and non-fiction titles in both English and Arabic, which have been meticulously sourced and designed to appeal to a wide variety of book-lovers.

The KITAB Bus aims to encourage reading and learning in a fun, accessible way, and through tours of schools, shopping malls, libraries and community centres the bus and its library services will be widely available for public use. In addition to relaxing on-board reading zones, the KITAB Bus has an inspiring array of authors lined up to travel with the bus, to meet their young readers, sign copies and remind us all of the exciting adventures to be had within the pages of a book.

• To make reading and books available to all children and adults, especially in remote areas.
• To inspire the love of books and reading in present and future generations.
• To promote cultural interchange and dialogue between Emirati and other world cultures, through visits from authors from around the globe.
• To promote the culture and history of the United Arab Emirates.

KITAB’s-Founded in 2007, KITAB is a joint venture between the world’s largest book fair, the Frankfurt Book Fair, and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH).

ADACH-The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) is the institution in charge of conserving and promoting the heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi, established in October 2005 as an authority of the Government of Abu Dhabi.

Zayed Giving Initiative -The Zayed Giving Initiative is based on a model of humanitarian volunteer work in the spirit of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the United Arab Emirates. Its aim is to promote a culture of volunteerism throughout society and to harness the potential of institutions and individuals for effective participation in community development in the areas of health, education, environment and culture.

Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry -The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry is an autonomous institution of public interest. It enjoys its own legal status to represent the various productive and service activities of the private sector in Abu Dhabi Emirate. By working to advocate policies, connect businesses and expand member opportunities by providing world-class member services, the ADCCI aims to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s sustainable economic development.
