Welcome to the Al Ain Reads book show, organised by KITAB, a project of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage. Join us from October 17 – 23 at Bawadi Mall for the second annual Al Ain Reads book show a place where you can find all the books you desire in Arabic as well as English.

CULTURAL PROGRAMME:
Come and learn more about the Emirati culture and heritage. See below for a complete list of what’s happening. All activities will take place at the stage, on the ground floor.

Join Ms. Ghaya Al Dhaheri as she explains how games were played in Emirati tradition.

Join Ms. Ghaya Al Dhaheri as she tells old stories from Emirati folklore.

11am – 1pm
Emirati tradition is all about expressing oneself and with input from the community. Students may contribute their artistic expression to parts of a long mural that will be displayed at the show.

Very much a part of Emirati culture are the handicrafts that include the hand-woven palm leaves and sadu. Come see how it’s done.

KITAB BUS:
Take some time out and sit in the KITAB Bus, the mobile library which will beparked outside the mall for the entire week.
Books are for all ages and are available in English and Arabic.

CREATIVITY CORNER:
An area dedicated to children, the Creativity Corner features the below activities for children to become even more engaged in reading and the world of books.

Build a Book

Daily 10 – 11am,

Each child will get their own package of glue, paper and felt pieces to make their own story. You can be an author too!
Storytelling
Training

Daily 11am – 12pm,
1pm – 2pm,&
6pm – 7pm
Learn how to be an entertaining storyteller. Children can practice the art of weaving tales to their audience.
Make the book

and 8 pm – 9pm
A picture is worth a thousand words. Children will get the words, and they will use their artistry to add the images to the story.
Make your own
reading box

Daily 7pm – 8pm


Books are precious and they need to be kept in a special place. Children will have the chance to make themselves a book box to keep their favourite stories in.
Scrapbook
making

22 October, Friday,
5 pm – 7pm

Join Ms. Ghaya Al Dhaheri to learn how to make yourself a book of memories made from many different scraps of materials. Tell your own story, your way.

BOOK EXCHANGE: Friday and Saturday (October 22&23) from 5pm – 8pm
Do you have books at home, that you have read, that are just collecting dust on your shelves? Bring them to the book exchange and take other books in their place.

All Arabic and English books are welcome. Please ensure that they are in fair condition. The exchange will take place at the Information desk on the ground floor of Bawadi Mall.
