Abu Dhabi, April 24, 2013: His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, the Chairman of the
Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), officially opened the 23rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair [ADIBF] 2013 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre [ADNEC] today (Wednesday 24th April).

The six day event is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and will be open until Monday April 29.

This prestigious annual event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and was formally opened by His Highness in the presence of Ambassadors and officials from GCC, Arab and other international countries before Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan was given a guided tour of the Book Fair.

Fair dates set to avoid school exams clash

Abu Dhabi, 11thApril 2013: Up to 25,000 school children are expected to attend this month’s Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which will run at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from April 24-29 – dates which were deliberated set to avoid any clash with school exams.

Schools from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region will provide special buses to enable schoolchildren to attend the fair to enjoy a wide range of cultural, creative, fun and educational events.

“Children between the ages of fourand 14 are extremely important to the fair’s success and many of the art and cultural activities have been designed to promote reading and writing to the next generation by making it fun and engaging,” explained Jumaa Abdulla Al-Qubaisi, Director, ADIBF.

14th January 2013 | More than 50 librarians from throughout Abu Dhabi emirate have signed up for the National Library’s 2ndLibrarians Meet-up on Tuesday, 15th January. Organised under the guidance of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority(TCA Abu Dhabi)and Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, the informative ‘meet-up’ will give the librarians a detailed brief on what to expect at 23rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair taking place this April.

Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which will run at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), from April 24-29, is a popular event for local librarians from schools, colleges, universities and technical institutions to buy books for their institutions. Grade five pupils from across the capital competed last week for a chance to be crowned the ‘Read Aloud Champion’ at the 3rd annual KITAB Read Aloud Competition which was held at Mubarak bin Mohammad School. 8 finalists from 13 schools from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain participated in the final round after moving through Rounds one and two in this three stage competition.


The event saw great enthusiasm and zeal from the participants and their respective schools. Each participant was asked to read from a book chosen by the judges followed by questions to assess clarity in pronunciation, understanding of the passage and confidence. After nearly two hours Al-Maha Abdulaziz Mohamed from Al-Dhabiania Model School in Abu Dhabi was crowned the 1st winner for the 3rd Read Aloud Competition. The second winner was Abdulla Saif Al-Rashdi from Al-Bawadi School in Abu Dhabi; whereas the third winner was Latifa Saeed Al-Dhaheri of Al-Shira’ School in AlAin.

London, April 16, 2012:  The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority has announced its participation at the London Book Fair in its 41st edition. The three-day exhibition, which started on Monday April 16, 2012, is hosting over 400 seminars and events, besides 1,500 international exhibitors.


The Authority’s participation at the London Book Fair is aimed at networking with the global audience and boost interaction of the UAE’s cultural projects with the European and international cultures. The Authority’s cultural projects include Sheikh Zayed Book Award, Kalima Project for Translation, Kitab company, Qalam project to develop young Emirati talents, National Library and promoting the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair [ADIBF] – one of the fastest- growing book fairs in the world.
