Fair dates set to avoid school exams clash Abu Dhabi, 11thApril 2013: Up to 25,000 school children are expected to attend this month’s Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which will run at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from April 24-29 – dates which were deliberated set to avoid any clash with school exams. Grade five pupils from across the capital competed last week for a chance to be crowned the ‘Read Aloud Champion’ at the 3rd annual KITAB Read Aloud Competition which was held at Mubarak bin Mohammad School. 8 finalists from 13 schools from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain participated in the final round after moving through Rounds one and two in this three stage competition.
The event saw great enthusiasm and zeal from the participants and their respective schools. Each participant was asked to read from a book chosen by the judges followed by questions to assess clarity in pronunciation, understanding of the passage and confidence. After nearly two hours Al-Maha Abdulaziz Mohamed from Al-Dhabiania Model School in Abu Dhabi was crowned the 1st winner for the 3rd Read Aloud Competition. The second winner was Abdulla Saif Al-Rashdi from Al-Bawadi School in Abu Dhabi; whereas the third winner was Latifa Saeed Al-Dhaheri of Al-Shira’ School in AlAin.

The Authority’s participation at the London Book Fair is aimed at networking with the global audience and boost interaction of the UAE’s cultural projects with the European and international cultures.
