KITAB’s aim is to develop the book and publishing industry and promote reading in Abu Dhabi and the neighboring Arab Emirates. KITAB will focus on making the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair truly international and developing a long-term networking opportunity between the Arabic and international publishing communities.

A part of KITAB’s remit is to encourage the establishment of international publishing houses in Abu Dhabi. KITAB will be instrumental in helping to develop a quality distribution system in the Arab World, as well as contribute to the professionalism in the entire Arab market.

We connect people with opportunities in the publishing industry, promote reading and provide a unified forum for networking between the Arab and International publishing communities by:

• Developing the publishing industry in Abu Dhabi, the GCC countries and the whole Arab world.
• Developing a quality distribution system for books in the Arab World
• Carry out Reading Promotion Campaigns to make reading more attractive.
• Developing long-term networking opportunities between the Arab World and international publishing communities.
• Creating opportunities for Foreign Publishers to set up office in Abu Dhabi .

In 2009/10 while remaining committed to Fighting Piracy, KITAB’s focus will also be on Rights Trading, Promoting Rights Focus and International Author Recognition.
